Jazz ファン、Evans ファン なら知らない人は居ないだろうと思われる、悪名高い鉄板ケース入り The Complete Bill Evans On Verve CD １８枚セットです。
この BoxSet は1997 年に発売され、既に廃版になっています。
また、別テイク、アウトテイク など未発表曲が 100数十曲 含まれて居るせいか未だに人気が有る様です。
先日もヤフオクに出品され・・・で落札されて居ました。

ビル・エヴァンスのボックスセットの中でも最大の容量を誇る18枚組セット。エヴァンスの録音って、ヴァーヴにそんなにあったっけと不思議に思う人もいるだろうが、なんと112曲もの未発表テイクが追加されているのだ。63年録音の『トリオ '64』はゲイリー・ピーコックとの唯一の共演作として知られるが、その時の未発表テイクが10曲、64年のライヴ盤『ラウンド・ミッドナイト』の未発表テイクが28曲、さらに歌手モニカ・ゼタールンドの『ワルツ・フォー・デビィ』録音時の未発表テイクが５曲あって、その中にはめずらしいエヴァンスのヴォーカル曲も含まれているといった具合に、とにかく盛りだくさんの内容だ。60年代から70年代初頭にかけての録音が中心だが、57年にドン・エリオットのバンドでニューポート・ジャズ祭に出演した時の演奏、なんてのもオマケとして入っている。ヴァーヴ時代のエヴァンスはトリオだけでなく、ソロやオーケストラとの共演、多重録音など多彩な活動を行なったが、その全作業がこのセットの中に詰まっている。
