Jelly Roll Morton

私にとってジャンルの区別が今一ハッキリとしないミュジシャンにJelly Roll Morton (ジェリー・ロール・モートン) と云う人が居て、彼のアルバムに Complete Library Of Congress Recordings と云う ８枚組のがあります。
このアルバムはかのアランロマックスの音源を元にして居るのですが、大半がJelly Roll Mortonの語りで占められて居ます。
業界の一部で有名なこのJelly Roll Mortonのこのアルバムは資料的な価値があるのでしょうが、私の様な素人の音楽好きには退屈な逸品だと云うことです。
この８枚分の音源を持って居る私が最後まで聴き通した事は一度しか有りません。

それを知ってかレコード会社は編集盤を２種類別途発売しています。
一つは同じデザインのジャケット使った（Jelly Roll Morton: Library of Congress Recordings (Highlights)）もの

もう一つ（組）は４枚ばら売りのセットです。
で、８枚セットを買う事が出来ない私は４枚ばら売りセットを買いました。
これらは８枚セットから演奏と歌の部分を取り出したものらしく素人の耳にも長時間耐えられるものでした。

ジャズの元となったミュージシャンのひとり・・・でしょうかね．私はモダンジャズ以前って守備
範囲外なのでよくわかりませんけど．現代のポピュラー音楽の元となった数多くの要素の
一部として貴重な記録なんでしょうね．ブルースなんかは初期の音源が非常に少ない
です．

そうなんだと思うのですが、本人はJazzをかなり意識した発言をしている様ですが、聴いているとドップリBluesなんです。
渾然一体となってる時代のプレイヤーなんでしょうね。
